The first project where I was the primary designer for a new design feature was when I was tasked with revamping the global search function in Pricing.

Inactive state

Active state

Issues with the global search included an undefined clickable area, nothing indicating what the function of the search did, and the design was so nondescript that a number of users didn't realize that there was a search function in Pricing.

Inactive state (my version)

Active state (my version)

Changes to the global search include change in placement so that the search function is front and center in the masthead, the selectable area being defined by a visible border, text indicating to the user what exactly the function of search does in the inactive state, and the ability to clear the field while in active state.
